last night it was my cousins valima ... it was held in lahore and due to my university and everything i coudnt make it to her wedding....i phoned her to ask how everything was coming along ......she sounded really low.....and this is what she told me...
few of her female friends who were there to attend her wedding from islamabad missed their flight..... becuase just to make it more exciting ... few of our male cousins made these girls have pans ........thats not it....these guys actually asked the pan wala to add extra extra GHutka ........and as a result these girls got sick and were hopitalised and due to which they missed their flight.... a bad end....i dont get it ...though it was just a prank but it did affect others......why dont people use their brains .....just for a laugh they did all this and now my poor cousin has to go through so much....

Hey Hira, I sympathize with your cousins - unfortunately our society evils continue to rage on - "Gutka" if i'm not mistaken along with "chalia" is banned in Pakistan but it finds itself here by people who bring it mostly from India.
I have a friend who imported a container of chalia and gutka from India along with Indian cosmetics. The SHO of his area police station one night "stole" I repeat not raided but STOLE most of this from his warehouse. When he found out it was the SHO , he went with his guys to 'fix him up' and in the end worked out a mutual agreement after paying a small bribe to the police. If we have to take practical steps to stop this from happening, we must first take it from within our circle of friends and family and ensure that they don't encourage this - with time, the awareness will catch on.
